Separable SOMSO plant models - an ever expanding collection. Nearly every botanical SOMSO model has been developed in cooperation with Prof. Dr. W. Weber.

BoS 14/1 - White Mould
Mucor mucedo, model enlarged approx. 250 times, made in SOMSO-Plast®, according to Prof. Dr. W. Weber. The model shows sexual and nonsexual generation. Model separates into 3 parts. On green base plate with explanatory note.

BoS 14/2 - Marchantia Polymorpha
Antheridium, model enlarged approx. 1500 times, made in SOMSO-Plast®. After Prof. Dr. W. Weber. Model in one piece and on a green base with explanatory note.


BoS 14/3 - Marchantia Polymorpha
Archegonium, model enlarged approx. 1000 times, made in SOMSO-Plast®. After Prof. Dr. W. Weber. Model in one piece and on a green base with explanatory note.

BoS 14/3-A - Marchantia Polymorpha
Approx. 10 times actual size, made in SOMSO-Plast®. After Prof. Dr. W. Weber. Thallus with three gemma cups each containing gemmae. The thallus becomes either male or female by clipping on the two antheridial or two archegonial branches. One antheridial branch has been opened up vertically and one part of it can be removed. Model separates into 5 parts. On a green base with explanatory note.

BoS 14/4 - Horsetail
Equisetum arvense, Sporophyll with sporangium enlarged approx. 50 times, spore with unrolled and rolled up spore bands enlarged approx. 500 times, made in SOMSO-Plast®. After Prof. Dr. W. Weber. Model in one piece. On a stand with green base and explanatory note.

BoS 14/4-A - Common Horsetail
Equisetum arvense, fertile shoot approx. 6 x life size, sporophyll with sporangia approx. 50 x life size, vegetative shoot approx. 3 x life size, in SOMSO-Palst. After Prof. Dr. W. Weber.- In one piece. On a stand with green base and explanatory note.


BoS 14/5 - Male fern, Prothallium
Dryopteris filix-mas, approximately 45 times size of original, made in SOMSO-Plast®. After Prof. Dr. W. Weber. One group each of antheridia and archegonia are on the underside of the prothallium, as well as numerous rhizoids that serve to anchor it to the ground. A small fern has developed from the fertilized ova of an archegonium. It consists of a juvenile leaf and a first root. Model in one piece. On a stand with a green base with explanatory note.


BoS 14/5-A - Male fern, Spore formation
Dryopteris filix-mas, model enlarged approximately 550 times (Sporangium) / 850 times (Spore tetrad and germinating), made in SOMSO-Plast®. After Prof. Dr. W. Weber. A sub-model shows a sporangium in the open position. In addition to this, a spore tetrad and a spore germinating into a prothallium are shown and enlarged to a greater extent. Supplied on a stand with explanatory note on the base and in one piece.


BoS 14/6 - Model of the Mnium Affine (Gametophyte with Sporophyte)
Enlarged approx. 12 times, made in SOMSO-Plast®. After Prof. Dr. W. Weber. The mature sporogonium with seta can be exchanged for an immature sporogonium with seta, an antheridium or for an archegonium. The calyptra on the mature sporogonium is detachable. Consists of 6 parts. On a stand with green base and explanatory note.

BoS 14/10 - Soldier Orchid, Flower
Orchis militaris, model enlarged 13 times, made in SOMSO-Plast®. After Prof. Dr. W. Weber. The model depicts the complicated structure of an orchid flower. The inferior ovary is turned in on itself and the perigonium consists of two triple jointed verticils. The median plane leaf of the inner verticil has been remodelled into a labial and extended into a spore at the back. The individual stamen is secured to the gynostemium with the style and stigma. The labial with the spore and gynostemium is detachable. Both pollinia can be removed with the adhesive disks. Model separates into 5 parts. On a stand with explanatory note on the base.

BoS 4/10 - Model of a Hazelnut Pollen Grain
Corylus avellana. Scala 3800 : 1, made in SOMSO-Plast®. After Prof. Dr. Beug. Model in one piece.
