Tulip Bulb

Tulipa gesneriana, model enlarged approx. 5 times, made in SOMSO-Plast®. After Prof. Dr. W. Weber, Reutlingen. The model shows the longitudinal section of a shooting tulip bulb. The dry outer scale encompasses the fleshy inner leaves (or leaf bases). The young shoot carries a flower bud. A replacement bulb forms down the axis of the innermost scale and an offshoot bulb down the axis of another leaf. Model separates into 3 parts. On a green base with key.
